Professor Dr. Liesbeth de Lange, professor for Predictive Pharmacology in the Division of Systems Biomedicine & Pharmacology at the Leiden Academic Center for Drug Research (LACDR) at Leiden University (ULEI), The Netherlands, spearheaded and coordinated the QSPainRelief project from January 2020 to June 2025. The 10 institutions that collaborated in this multi-centre project were spread throughout Europe and the USA, and included world-class experts on chronic pain, QSP computational pharmacological modelling, preclinical and clinical research, ethics, science communication, project management, and training of early-career scientists in academia, health care, and industry. The multidisciplinary team also ensured high-impact dissemination of the project’s results in scientific journals and during conferences and focused on real-world implementation through an updated clinical practice guidance document (white paper) at the end of the project.
