The Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) is Belgium’s largest French-speaking university. The Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc (CUSL) constitutes the major academic hospital at UCL. Medical doctors working at CUSL have developed strong interactions with researchers working in various fields at UCL. Because of a long-lasting interest in perioperative pain management (treatment and prevention), the Department of Anaesthesiology has specific connections with the Institute of Neuroscience (IONS).
Patricia Lavand’homme is working as an anaesthesiologist and pain specialist at CUSL, where she is director of the Acute Postoperative Pain service and the Transitional post-surgical pain consultation. Prof. Lavand’homme will select chronic pain patients who will be included in the study (WP7).
